Lyme Disease Support Group

Hancock County resident Jennifer Sala invites interested community members impacted by Lyme disease, including those with Lyme or post-Lyme diagnosis and/or symptoms, and caregivers, to join her in a peer support group to share symptom management techniques, resources, and more.

The first session will meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Lamoine State Beach in Lamoine. Participants will explore what happens to the body when it becomes infected with Lyme, practical means to reduce the burden on the body and boost the immune system in the way the body wants and expects, including how and why the methods work and address some of the widespread misinformation about Lyme. Printed outlines, graphics, recipes, and additional resources will be available.

A former teacher's assistant and childcare provider, Jennifer Sala has 12 years of experience managing her own tick-borne infection with holistic means. What began in 2009 with dietary changes in light of a grim medical prognosis evolved into herbalism in 2011. She has dedicated hundreds of hours of study to holistic herbalism, and thousands more to the fields of physiology, botany, and the merger of the two. Sala suggests this free 1.2-hour introductory level course offered by Commonwealth Herbs to get acquainted with the holistic approach.

Sala is a member of Herbalists Without Borders and is currently working on starting a local chapter. Visit her website here, and learn more about Herbalists Without Borders at http://www.hwbglobal.org.
